NYERERE NATIONAL PARK

Nyerere National Park, named after Tanzania's first president, Julius Nyerere, is a vast wilderness paradise covering over 30,000 square kilometers. Located within the greater Selous Game Reserve, it stands as the largest national park in Tanzania and one of the largest protected areas in Africa. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a haven for biodiversity and offers a pristine, off-the-beaten-path safari experience.

Biodiversity and Wildlife

Nyerere National Park boasts a diverse array of ecosystems, including woodlands, grasslands, wetlands, and river systems, which support an incredible variety of wildlife.

    2. A stronghold for endangered species such as African wild dogs.
    3. Regular sightings of lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes.

    2. The Rufiji River provides nesting grounds for numerous waterfowl species.

    1. Crocodiles and hippos thrive in the Rufiji River, one of the park’s most iconic features.
